Joseph Anthony Mantegna is an American actor, producer and director. Mantegna began her stage career in 1969 with the musical Hair. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play and the Joseph Jefferson Award for playing Richard Roma in David Mamet Glengarry Glen Ross, the first American work on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, the first of many collaborations with Mamet. His long-standing relationship with Mamet includes the film premieres of A Life at the Theater, The Disappearance of the Jews, and Speed-the-Plow on Broadway. Mantegna also directed Mamet's critically acclaimed Lakeboat, which was successfully theatrically released in Los Angeles. He then made a film version of Lakeboat. In addition to her appearances on stage directed by Mamet, Mantegna has also appeared in the films of Mamet House of Games, Things Change, Homicide and Redbelt.
