Joseph James Pavelski is an American professional ice hockey player and alternate captain of the Dallas Stars National Hockey League. He previously played for the San Jose Sharks for the first thirteen years of his NHL career, and was also a captain for his last four years with the team. He attended the University of Wisconsin and played for the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team. With the nicknames "Little Joe" and "Captain America", Pavelski scored a goal in his NHL debut, making him the 11th Sharks player in team history to do just that. He holds the record for most goals scored in a playoff game by a US-born player, with 61. Internationally, Pavelski won a silver medal as a member of the hockey team . US Men's National at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. He was also the captain of the US team at the 2016 Hockey World Cup in Toronto.
