Joseph Eric Thornton is the professional ice hockey center of Canada for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League. Previously, he played for the Boston Bruins and the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League. He was first selected by Boston Bruins in the 1997 NHL Draft and has played seven seasons with the club, including three as captain. During the 2005-06 season, he was traded for the Sharks. Sharing the campaign between the two teams, he received the Art Ross and Hart Memorial Trophies respectively as the tournament's top scorer and brightest player. Thornton will go on to 14 more seasons with the Sharks, including four as captain and a spot in the 2016 Stanley Cup Final, before joining the Maple Leafs in 2020. Ice vision, strength, ability Thornton's skillful passing skills and cutting edge play style have made him one of the best centers in the tournament.
