Best known for his role as Gomez Addams on TV's The Addams Family, he also starred in ABC's I'm Dickens, He's Fenster and in the second season of Batman in the villainous role of the Riddler.

John Allen Astin is an American actor who has appeared in many movies and TV series, as well as a television director and voice actor. He is known for his role as Gomez Addams in The Family of Addams, reprising his roles in the Halloween TV series with the New Family of Addams and the animated series The Family of Addams. Notable roles in the movie include West Side Story, That Touch of Mink, Move Over, Darling, Freaky Friday, National Lampoon's European Vacation, Teen Wolf Too, and The Frighteners. His second wife is actress Patty Duke and he is the adoptive father of son Duke, actor Sean Astin. Astin was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film for his directing, humorous prelude.
