Irish rugby union footballer best known for his stint with Leinster, with whom he won the Heineken Cup on many occasions. He has represented Ireland in international competitions such as the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Jonathan Sexton is an Irish Rugby League player, plays as a fly half for Leinster Rugby and Ireland, and is also captain of both teams. He also represented the British & Irish Lion in 2013 and 2017 and scored over 900 points during his international career, making him one of the most notable players in the history of the football league. Sexton was the winner of the World Rugby Player of the Year award, previously nominated for the award in 2014. He is only the second Irish player in history to win the award, after the winner. Keith Wood was the first in 2001. Sexton became the 106th player captain Ireland while leading the team in the third match of the 2019 Rugby World Championship at Kobe Misaki Stadium, Japan on Thursday, October 3, 2019. He is officially named captain of the 2020 Six Country Championship
