While known for his ability to run as fast as a right-handed batter, he is particularly noted for his defensive formations, especially catching, landing, and throwing from the most popular endpoint position of he. A report prepared by Cricinfo in late 2005 showed that since the 1999 Cricket World Cup, he has had the ninth highest number of ODI cricket appearances of any country, with the third highest success rate. He is considered one of the greatest athletes of all time and the first South African cricketer to reach 100 ODI catches.
