José Ramón Andrés Puerta is a chef, restaurateur, Hispanic and founder of World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meals after natural disasters. He is often credited with the concept of the small plate in America. It has restaurants in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Las Vegas, South Beach, Florida, Orlando and New York. He received the 2015 National Medal for the Humanities at a White House ceremony in 2016 for his work with World Central Kitchen.
