Juan Sebastián Verón is a former Argentinian professional footballer and current president of Estudiantes de La Plata, where he served as sporting director. As a former midfielder, Verón's career began at Estudiantes, continued at Boca Juniors in Argentina and included playing at several Serie A clubs in Italy, as well as Manchester United and Chelsea in England. In 2006, Verón returned to Estudiantes, where he remained until retirement in 2014, in addition to briefly playing for Brandsen. He announced his return to the first team for a short period to take place at the 2017 Copa Libertadores. Internationally, Verón had 73 caps for Argentina between 1996 and 2010, scoring 9 goals. He has represented his country at three FIFA World Cups and the 2007 Copa América where he won the finalist medal. In 2004, he was included on a FIFA 100th Anniversary List of 125 of the greatest living players, selected by Pelé as part of FIFA's 100th Anniversary.
