She began her career as a commercial pilot with Golden West Airlines as her first officer and ended in 2003 as the captain of Northwest Airlines' Airbus A320 aircraft. She was one of the first female pilots to work for a major airline and has been repeatedly voted "Performer of the Year" for her flying performance.
