Kalki Koechlin is a French-Indian actress and writer. Known for her extraordinary ability to work in the Hindi film industry, she has received numerous awards such as the National Cinema Awards, Cinema Awards and two Screen Awards. Despite her French nationality, she has lived most of her life in India. Born in Pondicherry, India, to French parents, Koechlin has been fascinated by the scene since his childhood. She studied drama at Goldsmiths, University of London, and simultaneously worked with a local theater company. After returning to India, she made her screen debut as Chanda in the 2009 television series Dev.D - and won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. She went on to star in two of the highest-grossing films of their respective release years - comedies Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, both of which won nominations for supporting actress.
