He is known for his roles in the dramas The Heirs, Angel Eyes, Misaeng: Incomplete Life, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo and When the Camellia Blooms; and the films Mourning Grave, Twenty, Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet, New Trial, Forgotten and Midnight Runners Kang were winners of the 56th Best Actor Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2020, he ranked 23rd in Forbes Korea's annual Power Celebrity list.
