Karen Sheila Gillan is a Scottish actress and filmmaker. She first started playing with cameos on television, before making her breakthrough as the Eleventh Doctor's Companion Amy Pond in the BBC's Doctor Who series, she received critical acclaim. and has received a number of awards and nominations. Gillan's lead roles include the horror film Outcast and the romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending. Gillan moved to the United States in 2013 and was first recognized for her role in the film Oculus and the ABC / Hulu Selfie series. She went on to achieve widespread success playing Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films and playing the role of Ruby Roundhouse in the Jumanji series. On stage, Gillan appeared in John Osborne's Inadmissible Evidence and made her Broadway debut in Time to Act. She has written, directed and starred in the popular TV series The Party Just Beginning.
