He finished fourth out of 21 in the Battle of the Shops: Tech Center competition early in his competitive career. He first rose to prominence as a result of his switch riding technique. His skateboarding was featured in the film Proof, directed by Paul Rodriguez Jr. He went on to become the Mountain Dew skating team's first African-American member.
