Sir Kenneth Charles Branagh is a North Irish actor and filmmaker. Branagh was trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London; in 2015, he succeeded Richard Attenborough as chairman. He was nominated for five Oscars and five Golden Globe Awards. He has won three BAFTA awards and two Emmy Awards. He was knighted the Bachelor of Arts in Commemorative Honors 2012 and knighted on 9 November 2012. He was named Freeman from his hometown of Belfast in January 2018. In 2020, he was awarded. ranked 20th on the Irish Times list of Ireland's greatest movie actors. Branagh has both directed and starred in several adaptations of William Shakespeare's plays, including Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, Hamlet, Love's Labor's Lost and As You Like It. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor and Best Director for Henry V and Best Adaptation Screenplay for Hamlet.
