Koji Kondo is a Japanese composer, pianist and music director who works for video game company Nintendo. He is known for his numerous contributions to the video game series Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, among others produced by the company. Kondo was hired by Nintendo in 1984, becoming the first person they hired to compose music for video games. Shortly thereafter, Kondo was named sound designer for the 1985 game Super Mario Bros. His work on the game, especially the underworld music theme, is often considered one of those most memorable arcade games.
