Kristin James Benson is a former Major League starter pitcher. A highly acclaimed prospect, Benson was first drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1996. He went on to a strong rookie season in 1999 with an even stronger one in 2000. but these will be the best two seasons of his career, because he underwent Tommy John surgery after the 2000 season. He had another 3 good seasons from 2004 to 2006 with Pirates, New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles, but then had to undergo wrist-cuff surgery, after which he was never an effective Major League pitcher again. Benson is also known for his marriage to Anna Benson.
