Kristen Carroll Wiig is an American actress, comedian and writer. Born in Canandaigua, New York, she grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Rochester, New York. Wiig then moved to Los Angeles, where she ventured into comedy as a member of the impromptu comedy group The Groundlings, and made her TV debut in 2003. Wiig took part. on the Saturday Night Live cast in 2005 and the following year, she appeared in the Unaccompanied Teen Christmas Comedy. After starring in several supporting roles in comedies such as Knocked Up, Adventureland, Whip It and Paul, she starred and co-wrote the critically acclaimed and commercial comedy Bridesmaids. The film earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress - Musical or Comedy, as well as a BAFTA and Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding performance by an actor.
