Kumiko Kōda, known professionally as Koda Kumi, is a Japanese singer from Kyoto, best known for the songs Urban and R&B. After debuting with the single "Take Back" in May In December 2000, Koda became famous in March 2003 when the songs on her seventh single, "Real Emotion / 1000 no Kotoba" were used as the soundtrack for the video game Final Fantasy X - 2. Her popularity grew with the release of her fourth studio album Secret, her sixteenth single "Butterfly" and debut album Best: First Things, which reached number three, second, and number one respectively. Although her early releases portray a conservative and understated image, as early as 2003 Koda adopted a more alluring and provocative style.
