Singer, songwriter, and music producer best known for his solo career with The Violators. b'lieve i'm goin down..., his sixth studio album since 2008, debuted at #40 on the Billboard 200 list in 2015.

Kurt Samuel Vile is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumental musician and record producer. He is known for his solo work and former lead guitarist for rock band The War on Drugs. Both in the studio and live, Vile was accompanied by his support group, The Violators, which now includes Jesse Trbovich, Rob Laakso and Kyle Spence. Influenced by Pavement, John Prine, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Dinosaur Jr. and John Fahey, Vile began his musical career creating lo-fi recordings at home with regular Philadelphia collaborator Adam Granduciel, with whom he has worked. joined the first work War on Medicines as well as various solo projects. Focusing on his solo career, Vile has released two albums, Constant Hitmaker and God Is Say This to You ..., a collection of many personal recordings since 2003. Vile signed with Matador Records in 2009 and released his third album, Childish Prodigy, that same year.

At the age of 14, he began recording his own unique music. He began self-releasing tapes of his home recordings when he was 17 years old. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he created the musical duo War on Drugs in 2005.
