Before his youth season, a coach dispute led him to leave Chino Hills and sign for professional team Lithuania Prienai. In 2018, he played in the Teen Basketball Association, a tournament created by his father, before returning to high school as a senior at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. Once a UCLA rookie, he was a five-star rookie, but opted out of college basketball due to eligibility issues and played in Australia for the National Basketball Federation's Illawarra Hawks in 2019, won the NBL Rookie of the Year.
