Landon Timothy Donovan is a retired American professional football player who is the director, co-founder and executive vice president of football for the USL San Diego team Loyal SC Championship. Formerly a striker, he holds many personal records in Major League Soccer and for the US National Team and is considered one of the greatest male players of American football of all time. Donovan signed with Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1999. In 2005, after six years with Leverkusen, most of his time on loan with MLS's San Jose Earthquakes, Donovan returned to the United States to sign the Los Angeles Galaxy. He then returned to Germany on loan with Bayern Munich and was twice on short-term loan to Premier League club Everton in 2010 and 2012. He retired as a player in 2014. but made a short return with LA Galaxy at the end of the 2016 season, then in 2018 to play for Club León.
