Wilmore is most known for writing and producing the Emmy-winning Bernie Mac Show, but he also contributed to The Office, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and In Living Color. He began executive producing the ABC sitcom Black-ish in 2014, and he went on to anchor Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore the following year.

Elister Larry Wilmore is an American comedian, writer, producer and actor. Wilmore was a "Senior Black Reporter" on The Daily Show from 2006 to 2014, and hosted The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore in 2015 and 2016. He is also the creator of the sitcom The Bernie Mac. Show. He is the executive producer for the ABC Black-ish TV series. He is also a co-creator, alongside Issa Rae, of the HBO television series Insecure. Since May 2017, he hosts a podcast, called Black on the Air, in which he discusses the news and interviews many guests. He is the host of a talk show called Wilmore.
