Lauren Child is an English-speaking children's author and illustrator. She is known for many books such as the Charlie and Lola comics, the Clarice Bean series and the novel Ruby Redfort. Lauren Child presented Charlie and Lola in 2000 with I Will Not Ever Never Eat A Tomato and won the Library Association's annual Kate Greenaway Medal for "Best Illustration in a Children's Book" of the year. For the 50th anniversary of the medal, the jury selected it as one of the top ten winners, including a shortlist of public votes for the nation's most beloved work. He came third in the public vote on that shortlist.
