Lee Edward Unkrich is an American director, editor, screenwriter and animator. He has long been a member of Pixar's creative team, where he started in 1994 as a movie editor. He then began directing, first co-directed Toy Story 2. After co-directing Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo, Unkrich debuted solo director with Toy Story 3 in 2010, and most recently directed Coco in 2017, both winning Academy Awards for Best Animation and Oscar for Animation original best. After working at the studio for 25 years, Unkrich left Pixar and the film industry in January 2019 so he could spend more time with his wife and three children.
