English left back who joined Everton F.C. in 2007 after spending five years with Wigan Athletic; became a member of the English national team in 2010.

Leighton John Baines is a former English professional footballer who played at left-back. Baines began his career with Wigan Athletic and was part of the squad that won the second division in the 2002–03 season and finished second in the 2004–05 championship and the 2006 League Cup final. He joined Everton 2007, helping them reach the 2009 FA Cup final. He has played for England at the U21 and senior level. Baines was included in the England team at UEFA Euro 2012 and FIFA World Cup 2014. He announced his retirement from football on 26 July 2020, before moving to coaching work. He is currently the professional development coach of Everton Academy.
