The production was a critical and commercial success, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. Miranda won the Tony Award for Best Original Score and was also nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. He and the rest of the show's cast won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. The stage musical has been made into a film adaptation, which was released in June 2021.
