Lori Singer is an American actress, cellist, singer and model. Daughter of conductor Jacques Singer, she was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and raised in Portland, Oregon, where her father was conductor of the 1962 Oregon Symphony. to 1972. The singer is a musical prodigy, she debuted the cellist with the Oregon Symphony at the age of 13, and was later admitted to the Juilliard School, where she became the organization's youngest graduate student. In the early 1980s, she signed with Elite Model Management before focusing on acting. She was cast as Julie Miller, a teenage dancer and cellist, in the TV series Fame, in which she appeared from 1982 to 1983. The female singer was noted for her lead role as Ariel Moore in the Footloose music movie.
