Estelle Louise Fletcher, known by her stage name Louise Fletcher, is an American actress. She made her debut in the television series 77 Sunset Strip in the 1957/58 season. She starred in the television series Bat Masterson as well as Wagon Train in 1959 before making her film debut in A Gathering of Eagles in 1963. In 1974, after a decade of hiatus in which she adopted Family, Fletcher appeared in Thieves Like by Robert Altman Nous. The following year, Fletcher achieved international recognition for her role as Nurse Ratch in the television series One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and she won the Oscar for Best Actress, the BAFTA Award for Best Actress, the best actress and the Golden Globe Award. She became the third actress to win an Oscar, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe Award for a single performance, after Audrey Hepburn and Liza Minnelli.
