Lucas Hedges is an American actor. Born to filmmaker Peter Hedges, he studied theater at the University of North Carolina School of Arts. Hedges began his acting career playing supporting roles in the Wes Anderson comedy Moonrise Kingdom and the crime biography Kill the Messenger. He made his breakthrough in 2016 playing a funny orphaned teenager in Kenneth Lonergan's drama Manchester by the Sea, which earned him a treat. Nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and made Lucas the eighth youngest candidate in this category. Hedges went on to play an energetic young man in the film Yen off the Broadway, and had supporting roles in the teenage film Lady Bird and the 2017 television series Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
