Margaret D. Lowman, Ph.D. or Canopy Meg is an American biologist, educator, environmentalist, writer, explorer and speaker. His expertise includes canopy ecology, canopy relationship between plants and insects, and canopy construction. Nicknamed "Real Lorax" and "Treetop Einstein", Lowman pioneered canopy ecology. She is known as "the mother of tree canopy research". For more than 30 years, she has designed hot air balloons and treetop walkways to answer the mysteries of forests in the world, especially harmful insects and ecosystem health. She works to map canopy for biodiversity and advocates for forest conservation around the world. Lowman's academic programs include Williams College in 1976; Aberdeen University in 1978; University of Sydney; and Tuck Business School.
