Marion Anne Perrine "Marine" Le Pen is a French politician and lawyer who has presided over the national elections since 2011. She has been a member of the National Assembly for the 11th electoral district of Pas-de -Calais since 2017. She is the youngest daughter of former party leader Jean-Marie Le Pen and the aunt of former deputy FN Marion Maréchal. Le Pen joined the FN in 1986. She was elected as a member of the regional council of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, Île-de-France and Hauts-de-France, deputy Europe, at the same time as a city council Hénin-Beaumont street. She won the leadership of the FN in 2011, with 67.6% of the vote, beating Bruno Gollnisch and succeeding her father, who has been the party's chairman since its inception in 1972. In 2012, she stood third in the presidential election with 17.9% of the vote, behind François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy. She ran for the presidency for the second time in the 2017 elections
