Between the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics, she won six gold medals, making her one of the greatest female cross-country skiers of all time.

Marit Bjørgen is a retired Norwegian cross-country skier. She leads the all-time Cross Country World Cup standings with 114 individual wins. Bjørgen is also the most successful sprinter in transnational World Cup history, with 29 wins. She led the medal table at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games by winning five medals, three of which were gold. A five-time athlete, her five Olympic medals at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics brought her total medals to a record 15, the most in the history of the Winter Olympic Games. On April 6, 2018, Bjørgen announced his retirement from cross-country skiing after the 2017-18 season.
