Leslie Mark Hughes, OBE is a former Welsh football coach and player. During his playing career he was often active as a striker or a midfielder. He made two caps for Manchester United, playing simultaneously for Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as well as for English clubs like Chelsea, Southampton, Everton and finally Blackburn Rovers. He made 72 appearances for Wales and scored 16 goals. He has won a series of medals by winners of his competitive career, including two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and two European Championship Cups. He also won a medal to the FA Cup final and a medal to the League Cup final. Hughes was the first player to win the PFA Player of the Year title twice, in 1989 and 1991. He retired in 2002. His reign as manager for Wales was his first managerial position; He was appointed in 1999 and in office until 2004.
