Sir Mark Thatcher, the second baron is an English businessman. He is the son of Margaret Thatcher, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, and Sir Denis Thatcher, and the twin brother of Carol Thatcher. His early days into the business world often led to questions about whether he was taking advantage of his mother's position, especially regarding the Al-Yamamah arms contract. He left the UK in 1986 and has since lived in the US, Switzerland, Monaco, South Africa, Gibraltar, Barbados, Guernsey and Spain. In 2004, The Sunday Times estimated his net worth at £ 60million, most of which offered overseas accounts. In 2005 he was convicted and received a four-year suspended prison sentence and the same fine in South Africa for funding the 2004 coup in Equatorial Guinea. He has two children with his first wife, Diane, Berthoud. He married his second wife, Sarah-Jane Russell, in 2008.
