Margaret Julia "Marlo" Thomas is an American actress, producer, author and social activist best known for her lead role in the sitcom That Girl and the children's series Free to Be ... You and me. She received four Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe, and a Peabody Award for her television work, and was inducted into the Cable Television and Radio Hall of Fame. She also received a Grammy for the children's album Marlo Thomas and Friends: Thanks & Giving All Year Long. In 2014, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Thomas is National Director of Outreach at St. Children's Research Hospital. Jude, founded by her father Danny Thomas in 1962. She created the Thanks & Giving campaign in 2004 to support the hospital.
