Mats Johan Sundin is a former professional Swedish ice hockey player who has played most of his career in the National Hockey League, retiring in 2009. Originally placed in the category. 1st place in 1989, Sundin played his first four seasons in the NHL with Quebec Nordiques. He was then transferred to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1994, where he has played most of his career, serving 11 seasons as the captain of the team. At the end of the 2007-08 season, Sundin was the longest-serving non-North American captain in NHL history. Sundin last played for the Vancouver Canucks in the 2008-09 season before announcing his retirement on September 30, 2009. He made the Stanley Cup playoff round in 10 of his 18 seasons.
