Michael Patrick Smith, known professionally as Michael Crawford, is an English actor, comedian and singer. He has received international critical acclaim and won numerous awards over the course of his career, including numerous film and television performances as well as theatrical works in both London's West End and New York's Broadway. He played the role of Frank Spencer in the sitcom Some Mothers Do 'Ave' My Brother, the movie that first made him famous and a starring role in the musical The Phantom of the Opera. His performance in the latter part earned him both the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Crawford also published the autobiography Parcel Arrived Safely: Tied With String. Since 1987, he has also been the head of the Sick Children Trust and is the face of the UK's social cause.
