He is regularly seen on Food Network on shows like Iron Chef America, Burgers, Brew and 'Que, Food Feuds and The Best Thing I Ever Ate, as well as Cook Like an Iron Chef on Cooking Channel and The Chew on ABC. He also has numerous contributions to periodical magazines such as Bon Appétit, Esquire, Food Arts, Gourmet, Saveur and O, The Oprah Magazine. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Symon is a chef and owner of several restaurants in the Greater Cleveland area, including Lola, Mabel's BBQ and BSpot burger franchise. He is said to have "saved" the downtown Cleveland restaurant scene. He also owns Michael Symon's Roast in Detroit, Michigan. On May 6, 2017, he opened Angeline at Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Symon describes his cooking as “meat-centric”.
