She was also recognized for her role as Julia Meade in the action-spy series Mission: Impossible, appearing in Mission: Impossible III, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Mission: Impossible - Fallout. On television, Monaghan played Maggie Hart in the first season of the crime series True Detective, for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She also played the role of Sarah Lane in the TV series The Path. Monaghan played Eva Geller in Netflix's 2020 horror film Messiah; The show was canceled after one season.
