Monstercat is a Canadian independent electronic music recording company headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 2011 by Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen, the label released music three times a week until 2018, when it was replaced by four releases a week. It will then become six releases per week by 2021. Starting with the release of their debut compilation album, Monstercat 001 - Release Week, the label is releasing a compilation album that regularly features music by various artists. Until the release of Monstercat 030 - Finale in 2017, each compilation was named and described the story of the aforementioned mascot on the album cover. This led to the rebranding, with a new series of albums called Monstercat Uncaged. In 2018, Monstercat launched a new brand called “Instinct”. In 2021, Monstercat acquired Silk Music to create a third brand called “Monstercat Silk”.
