Former Chicago Bears linebacker who was a ten-time Pro Bowl selection. After retiring from the NFL, he became the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2009 to 2010.

Michael Singletary is an American former professional football player and coach. After playing college football for the Baylor Bears, Singletary was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the NFL Draft in 1981 and known as the "Heart of Defense" for the Midway Monsters of the Bears in Chicago in the midst of in 1980. Singletary was introduced into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Professional Football Fame Hall in 1998. Singletary went on to pursue a coaching career, first as a defensive coach for the Baltimore Ravens and then as a defenseman for the San Francisco 49ers. In 2008, the 49ers promoted Singletary to head coach after former head coach Mike Nolan was sacked during the season, and he remained in that position until he was fired after the elimination of the 49ers.
