She was first recognized for her role as Kelly Kapoor on the NBC sitcom The Office, and is also a writer, producer, executive and director. For her work on the series, she was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series and five times for Outstanding Comedy Series. Kaling garnered more attention while creating, producing, and starring in Fox's comedy series The Mindy Project. She created the NBC sitcom Champions, which also appeared in five episodes, the Hulu miniseries Four Weddings and a Funeral, and the Netflix comedy-drama Never Have I Ever. Kaling's film career includes voices in Despicable Me, Wreck-It Ralph and Inside Out. She has appeared in comedies, such as The Night Before, A Wrinkle in Time and Ocean's 8, and Late Night, whose final films she wrote and produced.
