Raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan by George and Lenore Romney, he spent more than two years in France as a Mormon missionary. He married Ann Davies in 1969; they have five sons. In 1971, he participated in the political campaigns of his two parents. In 1971 Romney received a BA in Literature in English from Brigham Young University and in 1975 he received a JD - MBA from Harvard. He became a management consultant and in 1977 joined Bain & Company in Boston. As the CEO of Bain, he helped lift the company out of the financial crisis.
