Sir Mohamed Muktar Jama Farah is an English long-distance runner and the most successful British athlete in the history of the modern Olympic Games. He is the winner of the 2012 and 2016 Olympic gold medals at 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. Farah is the second athlete, after Lasse Virén, to win the 5,000m and 10,000m titles at the back-to-back Olympic Games. He also completed a 'distance double' at the 2013 and 2015 World Athletics Championships. He was the second person, behind Kenenisa Bekele, to win the long distance double at the Olympics and world championships. defend the two distance titles in the two big world leagues - a feat known as the “understudy”.
