Richard Melville Hall, known professionally as Moby, is an American musician, songwriter, singer, producer and animal rights advocate. He has sold 20 million records worldwide. AllMusic considers him "one of the most important dance music figures of the early 1990s, helping to introduce dance music to mainstream audiences in both the UK and the US". After starting playing guitar and piano at the age of 9, he played in several underground punk rock groups in the 1980s before moving into electronic dance music.
