He is best known for composing the Final Fantasy video game soundtracks, although he also worked on the soundtrack for the anime film Ah! My Goddess: The Movie and the scores for video games such Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters and Lost Odyssey.
Nobuo Uematsu is a Japanese musician and composer best known for his contributions to Square Enix's Final Fantasy video game series. A self-taught musician, he began playing the piano at the age of 12, with British singer-songwriter Elton John being one of his biggest influences. Uematsu joined Square in 1986, where he met the creator of Final Fantasy for the first time, Hironobu Sakaguchi. The two have worked together on several of the company's titles, most notably in the Final Fantasy series. After nearly two decades with Square, Uematsu left in 2004 to form his own production company, which includes the music label Dog Ear Records. Since then, he has composed music as a freelance writer for other games, including games developed by Square Enix and Sakaguchi's development studio Mistwalker. Various soundtracks and albums from the Uematsu game tracks have been released.
