At the age of seven, he began programming on a Commodore 128 and produced his first game at the age of eight.

In 2009, he created Mojang Studios, a video game production studio. His submissions Breaking the Tower, Metagun, and Prelude of the Chambered were all created in the 48-hour game-making competition Ludum Dare.
