Omar Alejandro Gonzalez is an American professional footballer who plays defender for Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. As a college football player for Maryland Terrapins, he joined LA Galaxy in MLS SuperDraft 2009 and went on to play 180 regular season games for them, winning the MLS Cup in 2011, 2012 and 2014. He was named MLS Rookie of the Year 2009 and Defender of the Year MLS of 2011. As an official international player since 2010, he has represented the United States at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and four CONCACAF Gold Cups, winning the 2013 and 2017 editions
