About Owen Hargreaves

Canadian-English midfielder who formerly played for Manchester United before joining Manchester City in 2011.

Owen Lee Hargreaves is a former professional football player who played in the midfield. He is known as a "strong defensive midfielder, working tirelessly to win the ball" and providing possession for his teammates. He played for the Calgary Foothills when he was young before starting a professional football career in Germany with Bayern Munich. After seven years with the city of Munich - during which he won four German league titles and the 2000–01 UEFA Champions League - Hargreaves signed for Manchester United in 2007, winning the League championship champions and the UEFA Champions League in the first season. However, his time at Manchester United was traumatized and he was removed to leave the club at the end of his contract in June 2011. Hargreaves posted videos on YouTube in an attempt to persuade those potential suitor in physical form, and in August 2011 Manchester City offered Hargreaves a one-year contract and he accepted.
