Park Geun-hye is a former South Korean politician who served as President of South Korea from 2013 to 2017, when she was indicted and later convicted of corruption. Ms. Park was the first woman to be president of South Korea and also the first female president elected by the people as head of East Asia. She is also the first Korean president to be born after the establishment of the First Republic of Korea. His father, Park Chung-hee, was president from 1963 to 1979, serving five consecutive terms after taking office in 1961. Prior to his presidency, Park was leader of the major National Conservative Party. from 2004 to 2006 and is the leader of the Saenuri Party. . from 2011 to 2012. She was also a member of the National Assembly, where she served four consecutive parliamentary terms from 1998 to 2012.
